Toncoin Integrates With Travel Booking Site Travala

Travala, a pioneering crypto-native travel booking company, has revealed a partnership with The Open Network that will enable Toncoin (TON) holders to use their tokens to purchase airline tickets, hotels, and travel tours.
The booking platform already accommodates payments via major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, XRP, Solana, Ether, among others. Travala accepts a total of 127 payment methods for bookings.
At the time of the new integration's announcement, Travala CEO Juan Otero stated:
“In continuing our commitment towards mass cryptocurrency adoption, we’re delighted to partner with Toncoin to champion the growth of the crypto community and bring a new real-world use case to TON.”
As the travel sector evolves to meet the demands of the digital era, blockchain and digital assets are driving new innovations that enhance customer experiences and financial efficiencies.
In 2023, Sleap, an AI-driven travel booking service, disclosed its partnership with the Camino network, a foundational blockchain technology designed for the airline sector.
This partnership is focused on creating personalized booking experiences for clients and offering promotions directly through digital wallets, utilizing the Camino network's structure to establish a universal communication standard among hotels, airlines, and local tour organizers.
More recently, in February, Japan Airlines introduced the Kyoko nonfungible token (NFT) project.
This NFT collection provides holders exclusive access to unique Japanese travel experiences not available through conventional travel booking services.
One NFT permits owners to spend two days and one night in an ancient Samurai mansion owned by a family with a 400-year Samurai lineage.
Another NFT in the collection allows holders to collaborate and exhibit artwork with Japanese light artist Yasuhiro Chida at the Tanegashima Space Art Festival, with the opportunity to share in the artwork's profits.
Initiatives like GroundSync are also in progress, aiming to mitigate expensive airline delays by utilizing blockchain to record every detail of a commercial jet’s refueling and maintenance procedures between flights, thereby minimizing runway turnaround times and boosting profit margins that are often diminished due to repetitive communication and delays.
