Worldcoin Reaches 10 Million Users

The World App by Worldcoin has now garnered a total of 10 million registered users, achieving this milestone with daily signups averaging 2 million and monthly signups surpassing 5 million.
This rapid growth occurred within less than a year since its launch in June 2023.
Tiago Sada, the product chief at Worldcoin's parent organization, Tools for Humanity, noted that the daily user count now surpasses the entire monthly user count from January 2024.
Worldcoin focuses on establishing a universal basic income through its cryptocurrency project.
The registration process involves users having their eyes scanned by devices called “Orbs” through the “World App.”
Regarding the World App’s role in the broader Worldcoin protocol, Remco Bloemen, the blockchain lead at the Worldcoin Foundation, stated:
“Our hope is that this will encourage other contributors to develop additional wallets for the protocol, as different users have different needs and preferences for their wallet apps. In other words, down the road the Worldcoin community has expressed interest in alternatives to World App, so that a wider range of people can engage with Worldcoin as they choose.”
A compelling example of World App's utility emerged recently in Kenya where a user's story went viral after they used Worldcoin airdrop funds to buy a goat.
The crypto community supported this user, contributing an undisclosed sum that allowed the purchase of even more goats, with the total reaching "13 and counting."
The goat acquired in this story was affectionately named “Sam” by its owner.
When queried on X about the choice of name, the owner revealed it was in honor of Sam Altman, co-founder of Worldcoin.
Altman also co-founded and currently serves as the CEO of the AI unicorn startup OpenAI, known for its groundbreaking generative AI technology, ChatGPT.
