Solana Interest Soars above Ethereum on Google
29 Dec, 2023 ● Coin news
Google searches for "Solana" overtook "Ethereum" in 2023 as traders started to show interest in the latest revelations within its ecosystem.
Throughout the year, Ethereum outperformed Solana in terms of search interest; however, between December 17 and December 23, Ethereum's search interest score was 50, while Solana's was 56.
Google Trends data indicates that from December 24 to December 30, search interest for the term "Solana" is expected to reach a score of 100. A score of 100 denotes "peak popularity for the term," according to Google Trends.
Furthermore, the data indicated that in nations including Spain and the Philippines, Solana garnered greater search interest than Ethereum. However, Morocco, Taiwan, Indonesia, and other countries continued to have a dominant interest in Ethereum.
Additionally, the data revealed that people who looked up Solana also seemed interested in terms like "bonk" and "tensor." On December 8, Bonk, a memecoin with a dog theme, overtook Pepecoin (PEPE) in market capitalization after a 370% monthly gain.
The NFT collection Tensorians, on the other hand, was produced by Tensor, a Solana-based nonfungible token marketplace, and it has made significant gains over the past 30 days.
The recent increase in the price of Solana's (SOL) token may have contributed to interest in the proof-of-stake blockchain platform.
The price of SOL saw a 13.8% increase on December 20, surpassing XRP and reaching $82 for the first time since May 2022. This allowed SOL's market capitalization to surpass that of Ripple's XRP.
SOL overtook BNB on December 22 to become the fourth-largest cryptocurrency token by market capitalization. But on December 29, BNB took back the top spot as the SOL token's price went back to what it was before Christmas.
