Bitcoin ETF Applicants Advertise 3 Crypto Ads in 48 Hours

Spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF) issuers have launched two more rounds in their ongoing war on cryptocurrency marketing, releasing three ads in as many days.

On December 18, Bitwise released the first-ever Bitcoin ETF commercial, starring actor Jonathan Goldsmith, who is best known for playing the "Most Interesting Man in the World" in an Ad campaign for the beer Dos Equis.

A few days later, on December 20, Hashdex released its cryptocurrency advertisement, which featured a dumper truck and the words, "Stocks aren’t crypto, fixed income isn’t crypto, precious metals? nope, not crypto either,” the advertisement presented before promoting the company.

On December 20, Bitwise responded with a second, brief commercial featuring Goldsmith.

“Thought you would like to know, Satoshi sends his regards,” Goldsmith said, while promoting Bitcoin in character.

Nonetheless, comments on social media generally agreed that Bitwise's ad campaign was the best.

The two asset managers' significant branding push is noteworthy because it demonstrates an extreme level of confidence in a financial product that has not yet received regulatory approval.

By January 10, analysts estimate that 90% of the 13 pending spot Bitcoin ETFs will have received SEC approval.

Pioneer of Bitcoin and CEO of JAN3, Samson Mow, offered his thoughts on the importance of the marketing campaigns for Bitcoin ETFs on December 20.

The firms contending for a position in the Bitcoin ETF, according to Mow, are competing with one another for assets under management, investors, and inflows. Their main tool is branding.

“This battle for the Bitcoin orange glow is going to heat up like you can’t imagine,” he stated.

“Think Jonathan Goldsmith is interesting? Wait until BlackRock makes the ad with Novak Djokovic saying ‘Bitcoin is for winners’. Or the Fidelity Super Bowl ad with Michael Saylor saying there is no second-best ETF.”
