ANKR Integrates TON Into Web3 Services
24 Oct, 2024 ● Coin news
Web3 infrastructure platform Ankr has integrated with The Open Network (TON) blockchain, enabling developers to build decentralized applications (DApps) for Telegram’s extensive user base.
Per the announcement on October 24, this integration into Ankr’s Web3 API services will streamline the process by eliminating the need for node setup on TON, thus saving developers considerable time otherwise spent on configuration and troubleshooting.
Telegram’s user base is estimated at 950 million.
Among the popular DApps based on TON are Telegram Mini Apps, like Hamster Kombat—a tap-to-earn game that has attracted over 300 million players within a few months.
These Mini Apps use TON’s blockchain infrastructure and are designed for seamless functionality within the Telegram app.
With this integration, Ankr will provide remote procedure call (RPC) connections, enabling developers to interact directly with the TON network to execute tasks like processing transactions, retrieving wallet balances, and fetching ownership data.
The TON RPC endpoints, deployed through Asphere, will be part of a globally distributed network of blockchain nodes to ensure low-latency performance.
“As the messaging app is already so vital to our industry, we will be very excited to see innovative new functionality come to life with barriers to building now removed,” said Chandler Song, co-founder and CEO of Ankr.
The TON blockchain also offers its own RPC services, allowing developers to interact with the network directly to build DApps for Telegram. Ankr, however, claims its integration simplifies node management.
Recently, the TON Foundation, which manages the TON blockchain, selected Axelar’s Mobius Development Stack (MDS) to link its ecosystem with 68 other networks.
This setup allows developers to build DApps across multiple blockchains without needing bridging solutions by leveraging an interoperability layer.
In September, the TON blockchain received a $30 million strategic investment from crypto exchange Bitget and Foresight Ventures.
This funding is intended to accelerate the development of TON-based applications, particularly games like Hamster Kombat and Notcoin.
